The Men of Lent and Easter Banner Series
Another set of banners has resulted for a sermon series for Lent and Easter at the Sparks First Christian Church, which took a little creativity until the inspiration came, for The Men of Lent. See Banners Page 3 for The Women of Lent and Easter banner series. Each banner is 2' x 3' but can be made proportionally larger or smaller and can be printed on a variety of materials. Scroll to the bottom of the page for further details. Note: Some churches combine the images from two different banners and change the words. Wording changes are free.
Custom Earth Stole
This stole was created in conjunction with members of the congregation of First United Church of Tampa (UCC) for the installation of their new minister Bernice Powell Jackson. With your ideas and our creativity, the possibilities are endless. Click image or here for enlargement.
The congregation observed the colors that their new minister wore and noted the words of mission she used. I mentioned that images on the stole could flow from one side to the other. They asked about using purples, blues and pinks in a sunrise image and including the earth. Their focus was on community including world community and thus the denomination logo on the bottom right of the stole, was somewhat minimized but still visible, yet somewhat blending in to the background. All of this and more including custom fabric selection and a custom neck label was considered in the stole's creation.
Neck labels with your custom greeting are available for only $7.50.
Buddhist and other faith Stoles
Art from the Soul makes stoles for all faiths and has created custom stoles for Coptic Christians, Protestants, Catholics, Messianic Jews, Druids, Independents, Indiginous faiths and more.
Our current Buddhist patterns are the above two. These stoles are 5" wide and 72" long but can be shortened for your needs. The Dharma wheel is approximately mid-chest height. The wheels, flags or other symbols can be placed at any location on the stole. Other styles of Dharma wheels will be created upon your request. Feel free to replace the flag with an alternate symbol. No charge. The fabric is cotton broadcloth-all natural material and no animal products are used. The thread is all cotton or synthetic thread. In this particular stole there are two layers of broad cloth without the interfacing so that these stoles are very soft and follow the shape of the robe and body.
Other colors and patterns can be created for your needs.
The stole can be made as a singe or double sided stole. For single sided stoles, choose black or white broadcloth for the back side.
Price is the same as for a 70" stole, style 2 at the bottom right of this page. Other styles of Dharma wheels and/or text will be printed at no additional cost.
For embroidered Dharma wheels, using the above pattern, add $12/wheel plus round trip shipping. Additional Dharma wheel styles can be created for an initial setup of $20. Please allow an additional 2 weeks minimum for embroidery.

The Kaua'i Stole
This colorful stole was the result of a trip to Kaua'i. If you have visited there, you have seen the colorful wild roosters and chickens. They are everywhere from the Waimea Canyon to Po'ipu Beech. There is significance in these feathers not just representing the island but also for the Christian faith. This is a reminder to not deny Christ as Peter did but also that if we err, we can be forgiven and continue, as Peter, to be faithful Christians. The symbol of the rooster also reminds us to be vigilant--of evil and wrong doing. The uses for this stole range from the beginning of lent to general use throughout the liturgical year. The artwork can be placed on a black or white stole, just request the color you want.
Words, denomination logos or symbols can be added at no cost.

Waves Stole for Baptisms and other Occasions

The "Waves" stole is perfect for baptisms or other uses from Moses parting the seas to the creation story! In this stole, there are pale greens and multiple shades of blues and white in these rolling waves which surround this stole. This is the first of our new design with the artwork printed from edge to edge and all the way around the collar. The reverse side of the the stole can be either black or white. About Colors on the Web:
The colors that you see on the artwork on this site can vary from monitor to monitor, in hue and value. We attempt to represent the art as close as possible to the actual pieces. If color matching is desired, we recommend that you request and approve a paper sample (legal envelope sized) or purchase a small banner as custom banners are not returnable/refundable except for defects in material and workmanship. $5 and any express shipping charges will be billed for each paper sample requested.
Overseas Banner Orders If you are overseas, we will be happy to send the artwork fully set up to your local printer upon receiving their printing requirements. This makes your shipping free.

How does this all work? (AKA, the Ts and Cs)
Read about either your banner or stole below. The details are important. It isn't the standard yada, yada, yada. Call us at 775-424-2548 to discuss your order or custom needs. The owner is Julie Jones and you will probably be greeted by her. Ross is her assistant and you may also speak with him. Our email is artsoul@pacbell.net. If you have a custom request, a graphically created preview will either be sent to you via e-mail or placed on a private preview page. (There are no up-front charges unless you order specific samples.) For stoles, if exact colors or fabric approvals are needed, please allow adequate time to request a fabric swatch (details below). Usually we can accommodate all rushes but you may not have time for swatches for stoles to be sent. For banners, we can usually send a free sample of the type of material you are requesting. For banners, we do our absolute best on color matching but large format banners (wider than 2' and on materials other than heavy stock paper) are printed by our printing partner in another state. They do a superior job but they are not standing next to your pews, sanctuary walls or stained glass windows. We encourage large, high quality photos for color matching banners.
In general, for custom art and colors, you are not committed to the purchase until you approve the final digital draft. On the average, you may request two changes to your digital preview at no cost. Additional free changes, if we choose to do so, may be contingent upon a purchase commitment via non-refundable deposit. Once approved the custom stole or banner is not returnable or refundable except for defects in materials or workmanship. Custom changes will be billed at $35/hr. Your final product price may change if you have a change or increase in materials. Simple or small changes may be free. You will be advised. There is no charge for the addition of church/denomination logos or wording changes. Your are responsible for correct spelling on your preview.

Amistad Sunday Banner
This banner resulted from a CD cover that I created for Jennifer Bynum, for her collection of Spirituals entitled, "Saw Mah Freedom In Jesus." It was a great challenge to create an image that illustrated both slavery and then freedom through Jesus. I virtually visited a museum and saw many of the shackles used on slaves. I saw a neck ring with spikes, used so slaves could not sleep, sitting on its side and it immediately spun around in my head and I saw a cross. I created my own version of this torture device and oriented it as I had visualized it. For the freedom through Christ I've made a crown of thorns in the center thus being the focus and liberating element.
I am ever so thankful for such artistic freedom.
Without the text from the CD, as shown below, this makes a wonderful banner for Amistad Sunday, typically the second Sunday of March.

Our traditional LONG 106" stole with the art appliqued on to the stole.
Our "background" stole, onto which we applique the art, is normally black or white. Custom orders are welcome if you allow time for the fabric to be ordered (price for 1.5 yards plus shipping) and we have some special colors in stock which are shown at this link. These stoles are ~106" long. The stoles are 5" wide and the appliqued art is 4" wide and goes from about 1/2 inch above the bottom of the stole to the breast pocket area. All stoles are cotton broadcloth. We print our own fabric which is also cotton broadcloth. On our traditional stoles there are two interfacings, Pelon #809 bond and a light weight "wonder under" both placed behind the artwork. We use clear thread. Stoles can be gently rinsed by hand in cold water. Add the mildest soap, such as, Woolite, if necessary. We will be happy to shorten these stoles, just tell us by how much. Usually wording changes on the artwork is free and we will add denomination or church logos free also. See below for fringe and name plates. We ship in 10 days or sooner. 50% Deposit for custom stoles
If your stole has custom modifications including custom logos (free or otherwise), custom art work, custom length, custom text or custom colors, a 50% deposit will be required and will be invoiced upon approval of your draft along with any custom design charges. If for any reason we are unable to print/process your order, your deposit will be refunded.
Expedite Fees:
As our stoles have become more and more popular our turn around time also has increased. Please allow a minimum of 10 days prior to shipment . More time may be necessary during religious holidays. Expedite fees may apply as follows due to scheduling:
24 hours 100%, 2-4 days 50%, 5-7 days 25%. Sundays and federal holidays excluded.
Custom modifications Custom changes and modifications are welcome. We do them all the time. Other than the changes listed above, custom changes and modifications are $30/hr additional. Minor modifications may be free. Stoles with custom changes (colors, text, logos, art, etc.) are not returnable/refundable.
Fabric "Name Plates" and Fringe:
Neck labels with the recipient's name or special greeting (~2" x 6") are $7.50. Black or white fringe is $7.50.

Deacon's Stoles are Back
Many of our patterns are suitable for deacon's stoles. Here are just a couple of our patterns in both our traditional, appliqued style and our new, edge-to-edge printed style. We create all of our own art and print our own fabric. The top part of the deacon stole is 30" and the bottom leg is 23." A 6" x 2" strip of fabric connects the front and the back. Width is 5." With the appliqued style the art is 4" appliqued onto a 5" stole. Fabric and assembly details are at the bottom of the page. Prices: Traditional/Appliqued style: $175; Edge to edge printed style is $275.

At Art from the Soul, our goal is to meet your needs visually, whether it is your mission statement, your ordination philosophy or your interim ministry focus. We are able to take design ideas from a variety of banners and create something totally new. These two particular banners took the background concept from the "Names of God" banners and then the colors were modified, the word echoing concept was borrowed from the "Here and I" stole, the Christ candle from "Irises and Christ Candle" banner and the cup and chalice design from the "Men of Lent" banners, all with colors and textures changed and other elements added.

Sea Glass Stoles
Recently we've had more requests for more non-denominational, independent and interfaith stoles that can be used for a variety of occasions. This backgroungd pattern of sea glass can serve for a variety of occasions from water themes to beach weddings. The colors can be matched to any liturgical season or can be matched to the color theme of the wedding.
Choose your own wording, no wording, logos, symbols, or the star fish all at no additional cost. For a beach wedding, consider using the bride's and groom's names down one side.
The white sea glass can be used as is or we can match any colors you like, including bridal party colors.
